Summer Turn Down and Save: FAQs
Our Summer Turn Down and Save scheme is a unique opportunity to help Loop users reduce their carbon emissions over the summer.
Reducing Grid Pollution
During the warmer months, we call events when the UK electricity grid is at its most polluting – typically in the morning and late evening. By taking part and turning down, you’ll help to cut National Grid ESO carbon emissions and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to earn rewards.
Make A Positive Impact
We’ve tracked how much carbon dioxide is being emitted to make electricity for the grid in summer. This ‘carbon intensity’ has really varied since winter: from sunny, windy days when electricity is generated from renewables through to days when coal plants have had to switch on. Our Summer Turn Down and Save scheme empowers you to use energy when the grid is greenest.
Summer Energy Rewards
In Summer 2023 we offered thousands in cash prizes available across our Summer Turn Down and Save scheme. All participants who reduced their energy use during each event were entered into a prize draw, and everyone taking part was also entered into our Carbon Hero draw at the end of the scheme.
